When Greg Griffin began playing guitar, he couldn’t decide if he wanted to be the next Stevie Ray Vaughan or the next James Taylor. He turned out to be neither. Instead, you’ll find a thoughtful singer songwriter infused with the passion of a blues singer. Playing guitar since the age of 16, his influences range from Eric Clapton and Van Morrison to Tom Petty and Lyle Lovett.

Greg has been writing original songs since his college days but only began performing in public within the last three years. From local coffee houses to events such as the Habitat For Humanity Summer Party in Cornelius and the NC Insurance Womens Conference, he has taken his music to a variety of audiences.

Greg was chosen for the field of 64 artists in CMT’s recent Music City Madness video competition, where online votes propelled him into the final 16 in the country. A portion of his video was also included in a TV special about the contest. Greg was recently featured in an artist showcase presented by the Charlotte Music Awards, and in March he appeared on Fox News Rising, the local morning show on Fox 18.

“Most of my songs are about people finding a place in this world,” said Greg. “Each day we all live with so many fears. Fear of rejection. Fear of never finding love. Fear of losing love. Fear of failure. These fears are what drive us all. It’s easy to feel overwhelmed but at the same time you have to have hope.”
